Mumbai. Indian artists and films shined at the 77th Cannes Film Festival. Many actresses including Kiara Advani, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Jacqueline Fernandez displayed their beauty on the red carpet of Cannes. Kolkata-born Anasuya Sengupta has created history by winning the Best Actress Award at the Cannes Film Festival. At the same time, Payal Kalpadia’s film ‘All We Imagine As Light’ won the Grand Prix. Both of these were low-budget films. Actress Huma Qureshi expressed happiness over this. She appealed to the makers to finance small budget and independent films.
Anasuya Sengupta is a resident of Kolkata. She received this award for playing a strong role in Bulgarian director Konstantin Bozanov’s ‘The Shameless’. This award was received in the ‘Un Certain Regard’ section of the Cannes Film Festival. Actress Huma Qureshi hopes that brands and companies will send people to the Cannes Festival who support small and independent films instead of those who have nothing to do with films.
