After fighting a long battle with cancer, Irrfan Khan lost this battle on April 29, 2020 and left behind his son and wife. In a career spanning 30-35 years, Irrfan Khan made a distinct identity for himself in Bollywood and after his demise, his son Babil Khan entered the world of acting with the film ‘Kala’. Babil Khan was largely successful in impressing the audience with his first film itself.
As soon as Babil Khan entered the industry, he started being compared to his father Irrfan Khan. These days he is in the news for his upcoming film ‘The Umesh Chronicles’. This film of his was directed by veteran filmmaker Shoojit Sarkar. Shoojit Sarkar has worked with Babil Khan’s father Irrfan Khan in many films and both were very good friends. The friendship of Shoojit Sarkar and Irrfan Khan was very famous in the corridors of Bollywood.
There is a special connection with Babil
Now talking to AnyTV Shosha about working with star kid Babil Khan, the director says that he is very possessive about him. In a way, he has become Babil’s parent. Although, his mother Sutapa takes care of him, but I try to keep Babil grounded.
There should be no comparison with Irrfan Khan
On Babil being compared to his father Irrfan Khan, Shoojit Sarkar says, ‘I know there is a lot of pressure on a star kid, but he has a long journey ahead of him. Irrfan had 30-35 years of experience. If Babil gets a lot of attention in the initial phase, it will not be good for him.’
