New Delhi. Famous filmmaker Imtiaz Ali is in the headlines these days for his film ‘Amar Singh Chamkila’. Diljit Dosanjh and Parineeti Chopra have played lead roles in this movie. Last year, rumors were rife that Imtiaz Ali was planning to make a sequel to his film ‘Jab We Met’ (2007). At the same time, Shahid Kapoor has also given a hint about the movie some time ago. Now director Imtiaz Ali has broken his silence on this matter and told why he is not able to make the sequel. Along with this, he revealed why he did not work with Kareena Kapoor again after ‘Jab We Met’.
During an interview with AnyTV Showsha, Imtiaz Ali said, ‘Why should a sequel of Jab We Met be made? If people want to enjoy the film, they can watch the first one. There should be both a story and a reason to make Jab We Met 2. But let’s see what happens. Anything can happen anytime.
Is this why sequels are not being made?
In the year 2020, Imtiaz Ali made ‘Love Aaj Kal’ with Kartik Aryan and Sara Ali Khan, which was the sequel of Saif Ali Khan and Deepika Padukone’s film. The film flopped at the box office. He was asked if this is the reason why he is avoiding making ‘Jab We Met 2’. In response, Imtiaz Ali laughingly said, ‘I made Love Aaj Kal for the second time and people did not like it that much. Just kidding. This is not the reason why I don’t want to make a sequel to Jab We Met, but unless there is a passionate reason to make a sequel, no one should do it.

Why didn’t you work with Kareena Kapoor again?
Imtiaz Ali told that he wants to work with Kareena Kapoor again after ‘Jab We Met’, but he is not getting any good project. He said, ‘Whenever you work with an actor, it is also your responsibility not to work just for show. The idea of working together again is good when the project is completely different from the previous one.
He further said, ‘Kareena and I want to work with each other, but from then till today we have not got such an opportunity. Because, there was nothing unique or better than the work we had done before.
