Big Brother was delayed for 5 years
Sunny Deol and Priyanka Chopra starrer ‘Big Brother’ is based on the Bengali film ‘Guru’, which was a remake of the Tamil film ‘Basha’ (1995) and inspired by the Bollywood film ‘Hum’ (1991). The film was originally scheduled to release in 2002, but due to some reasons it was continuously delayed and finally it knocked in theaters after five years. The title of this film was replaced three times before its release.
Priyanka Chopra replaced Amisha Patel in ‘Big Brother’
When the film was first launched in 2001, its original actors included Sunny Deol, Amisha Patel and Sudhanshu Pandey and were to be made by Vijayta Films with the ‘Diva’ title. However, the project was stopped for some reasons. Later work started again on it and this time the title of the film was changed to ‘Gandhi’, in which Priyanka Chopra and Sudhanshu Pandey were replaced by Imran Khan in place of Amisha Patel. This time, the film was produced by Guddu Dhanoa, while Vijayata Films was only presenting it. But, for some reasons the title of the film was changed again and this time ‘Deodhar Gandhi’ was done, but fearing that the audience did not like it, the producers finally decided to keep the title of the film ‘Big Brother’.

The makers had high expectations from this film, but when the film was released in theaters, the audience rejected it outright. This film, made in a budget of Rs 8 crore, could not recover the production cost. The film by Sunny Deol and Priyanka Chopra Jonas earned just Rs 7 crore. The film also featured actors like Danny Denzongpa, Farida Jalal and Suhasini Mule.
