Flirting Indian filmmaker Ram Kamal Mukherjee and his great work ‘Binodini Ekti Natir Nahyan’ emerged as an outstanding winner at the South Asian International Film Festival (SAIFF) in Florida, with three top honors: the best director, best actress and spectators’ choice.
Focused on Bengal’s great theater icon Binodini Maid, the Bengali biopic attracted a packed audience in the NCG theater of Tempa, whose tickets were sold within ten minutes. The film, acclaimed for his attractive story and the magnificent rebuilding of the past, got applause and received widespread praise from both the jury and the people present at the festival.
Famous Bengali actress Rukmini Maitra won the Best Actress Award for her powerful role in Binodini Maid, while Ram Kamal Mukherjee received the Best Director Award, which was her first international honor for the film. Audience Choice Best Film awards were awarded to producer Prateek Chakraborty (Pramod Films) and Dev Adhikari (Dev Entertainment Ventures), which recognizes his visionary support for the project.
Bollywood actor and former Mr. India and Mr. International Aryan Vaid accepted the award of Best Director on behalf of Mukherjee. “I am thrilled to see Ram Kamal’s Bengali first film getting such a prestigious recognition. After seeing him from the days of Stardust magazine and winning the national award with a blessing, this moment is perfect for me. I am also happy to see my co-actor Rahul Bose in the film. Congratulations to Ram, Rukmini and the entire team,” Vaid said in a press statement.
Expressing his heartfelt gratitude in an official statement to American media, Ram Kamal Mukherjee said, “It is very special to win the Best Director Award in Saif. Rukmini Maitra’s hard work is very satisfactory on the international stage. I am also very happy for my manufacturers symbol and Dev, whose trust and investment made this challenging project a reality.”
Binti Nati Nati Natir Accession, produced by Prateek Chakraborty (Pramod Films) and Dev Adhikari (Dev Entertainment Ventures), will be premiered in India on January 23, 2025, while it will be displayed for the first time in the US with Saiff screening.
