‘The Night Manager’ web series starring Aditya Roy Kapoor, Sobhita Dhulipala and Anil Kapoor had reached the International Emmy Award 2024. This film was nominated in the Best Drama Series category. People expected that this series would get this award, but it did not happen and even after reaching there, the series had to face defeat at a distance of one step. French show ‘Les Gautes de Dieu’ (Drops of God) won and became the best drama series. ‘The Night Manager’ was India’s only entry in the 14 categories at the International Emmy Awards 2024.
Indian series missed out on winning the award
Directed by Sandeep Modi and Priyanka Ghosh, the web series is an adaptation of both John le Carré’s novel and the British show ‘The Night Manager’. The awards ceremony, held in New York on Monday night, was hosted by Indian actor and stand-up comedian Vir Das. Vir Das also won the International Emmy Award last year. Talking about this time, the International Emmy Award has shared the name of the winner on its official page on the social media platform X. The post read, ‘Les Gautes de Dieu (Drops of God)’ has been awarded the International Emmy Award for ‘Drama Series’.
Only this Indian series has received Emmy Award
Other nominated shows in the Best Drama Series category of the International Emmy Awards 2024 included ‘The Newsreader – Season 2’ from Australia and ‘Eosi, el Espia Arrepentido’ (Season 2) from Argentina. ‘Delhi Crime’ Season 1 starring Shefali Shah is the only Indian web series to win the International Emmy Award for Best ‘Drama Series’ (2020). Nominations for the International Emmy Awards were made from countries such as Belgium, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Japan and Germany.
Anil Kapoor was happy
Let us tell you, Anil Kapoor was very excited after receiving the nomination. Anil Kapoor issued a statement saying, ‘It has been brought to my attention that our Indian adaptation of The Night Manager has been nominated for an International Emmy Award. I remember I was confused when I was offered this role. It gave me the opportunity to play a complex character, but on the other hand it also gave me a huge responsibility to add freshness and authenticity to the character played so expertly by Hugh Laurie. This recognition from the Emmys is a huge achievement, apart from the tremendous love we have received from fans around the world. Hard work always pays off… I’m more excited than ever and curious about what’s next. At present the actor’s wish could not be fulfilled.
