When Swapan Chaturvedi called Amitabh Bachchan a versatile actor and told how he has done films of almost every genre, Amitabh Bachchan jokingly said, “Hum toh naukri ke chakkar hote, bas naukri mil jaaye.” When the conversation continued, Amitabh told how the song ‘Saara Zamana’ from the film ‘Yaarana’ was decided to be shot during the day at the newly opened Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Stadium in Kolkata.
60 thousand people had reached to watch the shooting
Amitabh Bachchan told that around 50 to 60 thousand people had reached the stadium to watch the shooting and the seating capacity of this stadium was only 12 thousand. Big B told that the situation had become such that he had no option but to leave the shooting and go away. Later Amitabh Bachchan suggested that it would be better to shoot this song quietly at night without creating any kind of buzz. After returning to Mumbai for a few days, the team returned to Kolkata to shoot at night.
Got electric shock during shooting
Amitabh Bachchan told that when he reached for shooting at night again, the team was expecting that there would be no crowd this time. Amitabh Bachchan told that the director gave the idea that candles would be placed on the seats so that people get an illusion. Amitabh Bachchan also mentioned his ‘electric jacket’ which became very popular during the shooting of this song. Amitabh told that in those days the technology was not so advanced and the bulbs in his jacket were directly connected to the electric wire. Amitabh told that these wires went directly to the main line through his feet and as soon as the electricity was switched on, he started dancing. Amitabh said that it was not because he wanted to dance, but because he got an electric shock.
