The GST on food items has put everyone in tension. Its direct impact is going to be on the pocket of the common man. Bollywood actor Kamal R. Khan has taunted the Prime Minister regarding the GST on milk-curd and flour-rice. He has written on Twitter that why only 5% should be taxed at 15% and diamonds should be taxed at 0%.
KRK wrote, “It is wrong that the government has imposed only 5% GST on milk, curd, flour, butter etc. and 1.5% on diamonds. I request Modi ji’s government that GST should be 0% on diamonds and 15% on food items. In the nectar period of Hindu Rashtra, people should pay some tax for the progress of the country. Many users have reacted to KRK’s tweet.
Begum Didi wrote, “Economist KRK. Your son is MBA Finance, please learn something from him. What is 1.5% of the cost of diamonds and 5% of packaged food. Munna wrote, “Brother Hira comes after spending 50,000. How can you compare diamond and curd-milk.” Dr. Rajiv Sinha wrote, “Fool, this is the work of the entire dragged GST Council, not of the government. There are people from other parties in it too.”

Let us tell you that after the meeting of the GST Council on July 18, GAC has been imposed on food items. Now 5% GST has been imposed on curd, lassi, buttermilk, paneer, atta and rice. Although no GST has been levied on dairy products that are sold freely, these new rates are currently applicable only on packed products.
If you buy loose rice, flour, curd and milk etc. then you will not have to pay GST. But if all these goods are taken packed, then they will have to be purchased along with GST.
