Even today people dance to the tune of Honey Singh’s songs. But he has freed himself from the clutches of intoxication of hashish, ganja and alcohol. During an interview, he talked in detail about the dark phase of his life. Honey Singh told that he had become an atheist in childhood. He belongs to a Sikh family. When he cut his hair, his father did not talk to him for about two and a half years. After this, Honey Singh got to know about both Hindu and Muslim religions and stopped believing in any God. He told that under the influence of intoxication, he started thinking about evil powers and since then his life got spoiled. Honey Singh told that he wrote the song Chaar Bottle Vodka under the same ‘satanic thinking’.
Became an atheist at the age of 13
Honey Singh said in a conversation with Lallantop, ‘There is a very spiritual atmosphere at home. Nobody knows the story of how I used to play tabla in school. I used to keep long hair. My hair started to get dreadlocks. I used to shave my hair 3 days a week but still I would get deadlocks. Mummy used to cut these dreadlocks. My bun kept getting smaller. In the sixth class, people used to make fun of my short bun, so I told mummy to cut my hair. Mummy cut my hair. Papa was not at home. The next day, I stood on the tabla in the assembly with a handkerchief tied on my head. The principal expelled me. I was 12 or 13 years old at that time. I left tabla, religion and became an atheist at the age of 13.’
acquired knowledge of every religion
Honey Singh told that his music guru Abhinavacharya ji introduced him to Hinduism and Sanatan Dharma. I came to know about Sikhism from home. I thought that I will not believe in any religion and will keep gaining knowledge. I shifted to Mohali in 2007. There I got introduced to Islam. I gained knowledge about it. Honey Singh said, when my time came in 2011-12, I should have thanked God but I started praising evil powers. From there my mind got spoiled and my life got ruined. Honey Singh told that he became a believer from an atheist during his illness in 2018-19. Honey Singh said that Bhole Baba saved him.
