New Delhi. Television veteran Manju Singh has passed away following illness. His family gave this information on Saturday. The family said that he passed away in Mumbai on Thursday. The family told the media, “It is with deep sadness that we inform you that Manju Singh has passed away. He lived a beautiful and inspiring life. Will be remembered for his journey from ‘Manju Didi’ to ‘Manju Nani’.
Lyricist, singer and screenwriter Swanand Kirkire shared a post on social media platform Twitter, recalling his time working with Manju Singh in Doordarshan. In his post, Swanand wrote, “Manju Singh is no more! Manju ji brought me from Delhi to Mumbai to write her show Swaraj for Doordarshan! He had made many wonderful shows like Ek Kahani, Show Time etc for DD. Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s Golmaal Ki Ratna Hamari Pyaari Manju ji how can you forget your love…Goodbye!”

Let us tell you that Manju Singh made her debut on the small screen in the early 1980s with the first sponsored program ‘Show Theme’. He later produced many memorable television programs for Doordarshan in the early era of color broadcasting, ranging from serials, children’s shows, spiritual to activism and other meaningful themes. Some of them included ‘Ek Kahani’, ‘Swaraj’, ‘Adhikar’ and anchored the children’s show ‘Khel Khiladi’ which was one of the longest running shows at that time. Singh also acted in a few Hindi films.
