She also filed a case in the court that her husband Prabhu Deva wants to end her marriage so that she could marry Nayantara.

However, on July 2, 2010, Prabhu Deva and Lata got divorced on July 2, 2010 despite continuous pressure from Lata on all these protests and court decisions. Prabhu Deva ended her 16 -year marriage with Lata and by then Lata was also sure that she does not want to stay with her anymore. Prabhu Deva was allegedly living in live-in with Nayantara soon after divorce from his ex-wife Lata.
