India’s official entry for Oscars 2025 has been announced. ‘Missing Ladies’, directed by Kiran Rao, will represent India at the 97th Academy Awards. It has been nominated for the Best Foreign Film category. The members of The Film Federation of India have announced India’s official entry to the Academy Awards. Made in Aamir Khan Productions, this film featured Pratibha Ranta, Sparsh Srivastava and Nitanshi Goyal in lead roles. Ravi Kishan and Chhaya Kadam have played important roles in this film.

Hindi film ‘Laapata Ladies’, a light-hearted satire on patriarchy, was selected from a list of 29 films, which included Bollywood hit ‘Animal’, Malayalam National Award winner ‘Aattam’ and Cannes winner ‘All We Imagine Is Light’. The 13-member selection committee headed by Assamese director Jahnu Barua unanimously decided to include ‘Laapata Ladies’ produced by Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao in the Best International Film category at the Academy Awards. This film has also left behind Tamil film ‘Maharaja’, Telugu film ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ and ‘Hanu-Man’. Let us tell you, ‘Swatantrya Veer Savarkar’ and ‘Article 370’ were also included in the list of 29 films.

By the opening weekend, the film managed to earn 4 crores. After 50 days of release in theaters, the total box office collection of ‘Missing Ladies’ was Rs 17.31 crore. At present, this is the process and I am sure it will be considered.’
