Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan was injured by an intruder attacking his residence in Mumbai in the early hours of Thursday.
Officials said the incident took place at his house in Bandra at around two and a half hours after which Khan was admitted to the hospital and needed his surgery.
Public relations representative of 54 -year -old actor said in a statement, “Attempted theft at Saif Ali Khan’s residence. He is currently admitted for surgery in the hospital.”
The representative said, “We request media and fans to be patient. It is a police matter. We will keep you aware of the situation.”
The police officer said that according to preliminary information, an unknown person entered Khan’s house and there was a scuffle between the two. He said that some family members of the actor were present at the house at the time of the incident.
Khan was attacked with a knife, injuring him. The official said that he was taken to Lilavati Hospital in Bandra, where his condition is said to be out of danger.
Asked if the intruder at the actor’s house had tried the robbery, a senior police officer did not give detailed information and said that the matter was under investigation.
After receiving the information, Bandra police reached the spot and started investigating the incident. Khan is known for his performances in films like ‘Omkara’, ‘Dil Chahta Hai’, ‘Kal Ho Na Ho’ and ‘Tanhaji: The Anasang Warrior’.
