Mallika Sherawat gets emotional remembering Welcome days
During the conversation, when shown a picture from the Welcome sets, Mallika shared a humorous memory and said, ‘My two lovers, this picture sums up my life. I had a lot of fun shooting for Welcome, both Anil and Nana were literally fighting for me. They were trying to get my attention; Imagine how important that felt to me! He is a wonderful human being and has amazing energy as an actor. When asked if she anticipated the film’s iconic status, Mallika candidly replied, ‘We were shooting in Dubai, it was so hot there that our make-up kept melting, so no one had any idea about the fate of the film. Thinking about it didn’t bother me. We all just wanted to pack up and go back home soon.
The film was a superhit at the box office
Welcome was a 2007 Bollywood comedy film directed by Anees Bazmee and produced by Firoz Nadiadwala. The film had a star cast including Akshay Kumar, Katrina Kaif, Anil Kapoor, Nana Patekar, Mallika Sherawat and Paresh Rawal. The story revolves around two criminals, Uday Shetty (Nana Patekar) and Majnu Bhai (Anil Kapoor), who are determined to get Uday’s sister, Sanjana (Katrina Kaif) married into a respectable family. Things take a ridiculous turn when she falls in love with Rajeev (Akshay Kumar), a normal guy with no criminal connections. Welcome was a massive box office success, praised for its strong comedy, witty dialogues and memorable performances. Especially Anil Kapoor and Nana Patekar whose comic timing as the dashing gangsters was widely appreciated. The film was known for its entertaining plot and became one of the most iconic Bollywood comedies of the late 2000s. Its success led to a sequel, Welcome Back (2015), which included most of the original cast.
