Pankaj Jha almost became the Sultan of Gangs of Wasseypur
In a conversation with Digital Commentary, Pankaj Jha explained why he missed out on becoming the Sultan of ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’. Pankaj Jha was asked that the role of Sultan in Gangs of Wasseypur was first offered to you, but later it was given to someone else. Is this also a part of politics? In response, Pankaj Jha said- ‘Politics does not affect me. If it did, then the person doing politics would have won. I am not affected by all this. Those who do politics behind people’s backs are cowards anyway. Those who have a point, they come forward and talk.’
Worked in films like Gulaal-Black Friday
Not only this, during the interview Pankaj Jha also gave himself the title of director making actor. Targeting Anurag Kashyap with a sarcastic smile, he said- ‘Films like Gulaal are made by actors as well as directors. But, here people are so timid and spineless that they cannot stick to their words. Later I came to know that the director himself was in a bad condition. He was not getting any work and 36 different people were working on one project.’
What happened during Gangs of Wasseypur?
Pankaj Jha says- ‘I had gone to Patna for the shooting of a film. There I got a message from him (Anurag Kashyap) to come. I told him that I am in the middle of a shoot and will be able to return in a day or two. Then I came to know that someone else has been cast for this role. Anyway, I still love Anurag a lot. I have no complaints against him.’
