Punjabi singer and Congress leader Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu alias Sidhu Moosewala was shot dead near Mansa on Sunday. He was taken to the Civil Hospital in Mansa, where he was declared brought dead. A day earlier, the AAP government of the state had removed the security of all the people, including Moosewala. Let us tell you that Moosewala had joined the Congress just before the elections.
Where is the incident: According to the information received, this incident has happened in Mansa where Musewala and his associates were fired upon by unknown assailants. He was reportedly shot at least 10 times near a temple in the village of Jhawahar. After the incident, Sidhu Musewala was admitted to the hospital in Mansa, where he died. Three other people were also injured in the incident, who have been admitted to the hospital.
Contested elections from Mansa: Sidhu Musewala had contested the assembly elections from Mansa on a Congress ticket. Moosewala was defeated by Dr. Vijay Singla of AAP by a margin of 63,323 votes. Musewala, a resident of Musa, a village in Mansa district, had joined the Congress with much fanfare in November last year.
Punjab government had withdrawn the security: The Bhagwant Mann government of Punjab had withdrawn the security of 424 VIPs on Saturday, May 28. Those whose security was withdrawn included Sidhu Musewala along with several retired officials and former MLAs. Earlier in April also, the Punjab government had ordered the withdrawal of security of 184 people, including former ministers and leaders.
There was protests in the elections: After the Congress gave him a ticket from Mansa assembly constituency, the then Mansa MLA Nazar Singh Manshahia had revolted against the party saying that he would oppose the candidature of the controversial singer. Actually, Moosewala had been in controversies many times due to his songs and other activities.
