Former Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar also paid tribute to the Nightingale of India in his own way.

Among them, Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Akhtar has also shared it with people associated with Lata ji. He has posted a video on his YouTube channel, in which he recounts the telephone conversation he had with Swar Kokila Lata Mangeshkar during his stay in Mumbai. He had a telephonic conversation with Lata ji in 2016. He told that Lata ji had called him home to meet him, but he regretted that he could never go and meet her.
In this YouTube video, Shoaib Akhtar said, “Today there is very sad news, Lata ji is no more. I came to India in the year 2016 in connection with some work. I am also a big fan of Lata ji. Because then I had to I was lucky enough to talk to her on the phone. We could talk on the phone. I called her and requested her salute and she also answered in a very beautiful voice. I called her Lata ji and she said, call me mother since then. He started calling him mother. He said son how are you. I said I am fine, you are fine.
Shoaib further said, “Lataji spoke to me about her love for cricket and said that she has seen many of my matches and she has also seen a lot of fights with Sachin Tendulkar on the field. She told that she is very fond of cricket. And she used to watch my match too. She called me very aggressive and said that you used to play very hard and your anger is also very popular.
Shoaib said to Lata ji, “I said, mother, I want to come to meet you and I do not want to miss this opportunity. If I am in Mumbai, mother ji wants to come to you, I want to meet you. He said son definitely.” Come, I want to meet you and talk a lot. They said that we are doing Navratra for 9 days, after that it will be good if I come. I said I will go till Navratri, then when I come back, I will go together.”

Shoaib further said, “He had said that the son should not go and go together. I had said that mother will meet for sure. He asked me, do you know my house. I said that the whole of India knows, the whole of Pakistan knows, the whole world.” I know. I had said that I will come. I thought that we will meet but in the meantime relations between India and Pakistan deteriorated, then I could not go to India.
Remind that, Shoaib Akhtar had retired from cricket in 2011. The second semi-final of the 2011 World Cup was played between India and Pakistan on the ground of Mohali, which Team India won by 29 runs in a very exciting style.
