CNN-AnyTV The fourth edition of the marquee leadership conclave – Rising India Summit 2024 – was held in New Delhi on March 19-20. At the summit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave a keynote speech in front of our audience. Many prominent stalwarts from the fields of politics, art, corporate world, entertainment and sports participated in this program.
The summit will provide a platform to discuss India’s remarkable transformational journey and its successes over the past few years, while also highlighting the immense potential ahead. On the first day of the summit, singer and composer Shankar Mahadevan, flautist Rakesh Chaurasia, percussionist V. Selvaganesh and violinist Ganesh Rajagopalan spoke about their Grammy-winning album.
India won big at the Grammys this year when Shankar Mahadevan and Zakir Hussain’s band Shakti won the Best Global Music Album award for ‘This Moment’. The group also includes guitarist John McLaughlin, percussionist V Selvagnesh and violinist Ganesh Rajagopalan. Shankar Mahadevan also won the Music Legend Award for Outstanding Contribution to Music at the AnyTV Shosha Reel Awards 2024.
Talking about how the album was made, Shankar Mahadevan said, “The way this album was made was amazing. All this happened during Covid. We had done 20 concerts in a 30-day tour across America and Europe and now we were about to go back to India. Then we thought that we should also make an album. And because of Covid no one could leave the house, in this situation the way this album was made was completely remote controlled. Zakir Bhai was from San Francisco, Selva-Ganesh was from Chennai and Seattle, John G was from Monaco and I was from Mumbai. We were jumping up and down on the server. Bars and suggestions were being exchanged through email. It was all very complicated! But when we heard it, we said we had done something amazing.”
