The actress, who entered Bollywood with a veteran like Rishi Kapoor, became a star from her first film. She entered the film world as a lead actress and made a splash. We are talking about Shoma Anand. The actress started her career in 1976, where she worked with Rishi Kapoor in Pramod Chakraborty’s romantic-crime film ‘Barud’. After her debut, Shoma made a special identity in the industry and settled in the hearts of the audience. Shoma has played the mother of Vidya Balan in the popular TV serial ‘Hum Paanch’.
Anjali became headlines in a ruckus
From the very first film, Shoma Anand got such a tremendous name-fame. He did not have to struggle much to get work in the industry, but Shoma often got a supporting role instead of lead. There are only a few films in which he has worked as a lead. They include ‘Ghar Ek Temple’, ‘Pativrata’, ‘Ghar Dwar’, ‘Pyaar Ka Mandir’ and ‘Bade Ghar Ki Beti’. One of his most popular characters is Anjali, in which he played the role of Paresh Rawal’s wife. He was highly appreciated for his work in ‘Hungama’. Shoma appeared in every other film with Raj Kiran in the 80s and 90s and her pair is still in discussion among the people.
Where is Rishi Kapoor’s actress now
Shoma’s career was on the peak in the 90s and played important roles in many films, but during this time actor Tariq Shah’s entry was done in her life. Shoma fell in love with Tariq and both got married in 1997. Shoma was forced to leave the industry due to the family not getting support after marriage. This is the reason why he made a distance from the industry. A few years later, Shoma started working in TV serials and made a distinct identity on the small screen with shows like ‘Bhabhi’, ‘Hum Paanch’ and ‘Prank’. Tariq Shah died of pneumonia in the year 2021, after which the entire responsibility of daughter Sara Shah came to him. Shoma Anand has been away from Bollywood for the past 15 years. He was last seen in the film ‘Life Partner’ (2010). Shoma is currently spending time with family away from the industry.
