Mumbai, (IANS)| Actress Rituparna Sengupta has revealed how the COVID-19 pandemic has helped her rediscover herself. Talking about the same, Rituparna told IANS, “It has been a mixed experience for me. There are some good things, like I can spend more time with my family, especially kids and more time for my writing. I can dedicate.”
The actress said, “The pandemic gave me a chance to rediscover myself. It has made us invest a lot in our relationships, parents, children and emotions. We were moving very fast before, almost a cyclone. Like. Life had become very mechanical.” He said, “The best part for me was helping my daughter study for her exams, shooting dance videos together and teaching her painting. I also did things like cycling and driving and a COVID kitchen and a kitchen for people. Contributed to the vaccination of special children.”
When asked what life lesson she has learned from the pandemic, the actress said, “We can be content with very little things in life, which we might have forgotten. Our needs are very basic, but we forget it. At the same time, we have destroyed a lot of nature, which has provided us a home. It is our responsibility to preserve it. I hope we will remember this lesson even after this pandemic is over.” The National Award-winning actress, mostly known for her contribution to Bengali cinema, also spoke about how the film industry and theater business has been affected amid the pandemic.
He said, “With cinema halls shut, some films got spoiled after a few days of release, some are still waiting to be released. Theater owners and workers have suffered a lot. The cinema industry has suffered, especially Daily wage earners. Overall this is a very sad situation and we are the victims of this situation. I have tried my best to stand with the people as much as I can. I hope this too shall pass.” With theaters shut, a lot of movies, even big banner ones, have released on OTT platforms in recent times. Being an actor, will it make any difference to Rituparna if her film releases on OTT instead of theatres?
She said, “Theatre has a different charm. I am a product of commercial cinema. I started at a time when OTT platforms didn’t even exist. We got our popularity from celluloid. I have a lot of respect for that. I I always want films to release in theatres. At the same time, I want alternative platforms to flourish.” Rituparna recently shot in Mumbai for Veena Bakshi-directed film ‘Ittar’ with Deepak Tijori and Kabir Lal’s ‘Insight’, which is a remake of Spanish thriller ‘Julia’s Eyes’.
How different is the experience of shooting in Mumbai from Kolkata? Rituparna said, “The atmosphere is different. I feel a little more relaxed at home in Kolkata. Mumbai is very good production-wise. Also, the work is done on a large scale due to the high budget. With different producers and directors. Work ethic and style vary.” Talking about herself, the actress said, “I am a very flexible actress and adjust myself to different styles of work, as I am mostly engrossed in the character that I am playing. For me, the final The product matters the most.” On the work front, Rituparna currently works as the host of the television show ‘Rishta’ on Colors TV Asia Pacific.
