Actor Saif Ali Khan was illegally entered into the country seven months ago, arrested for attacking actor Saif Ali Khan with a knife and used the Aadhaar card of a person resident of West Bengal to buy a SIM before going to Mumbai. The police gave this information on Tuesday.
Police on Sunday arrested Shariful Islam Shahzad Mohammad Rohilla Amin Fakir (30), accused from neighboring Thane city for a knife attack at Bandra’s residence in Bandra, actor Saif Ali Khan.
According to the police, the fakir changed his name to Vijay Das, and had passed the river Dawki illegally and entered India illegally.
An official said that the accused stayed in West Bengal for a few weeks and used the Aadhaar card of a local person to buy a SIM card before coming to Mumbai in search of a job.
He said that preliminary investigation has revealed that the SIM card used by the accused was registered in the name of Khukumoni Jahangir Sekha, resident of West Bengal.
The official said that the fakir tried to make an Aadhaar card for himself, but failed.He said that the accused in Mumbai chose to work in places where he did not need to give documents and Amit Pandey, a contractor of laborers, helped him to get housekeeping in the pubs and hotels of Worli and Thane.
He said that after examining the fakir’s cellphone, the police came to know that he had made several phone calls in Bangladesh and used some mobile applications to call his family in the neighboring country.
Saif Ali Khan (54) was attacked several times by an intruder inside the apartment on the 12th floor in the building on 16 January, injuring him. Saif underwent surgery at Lilavati Hospital.
The court of Metropolitan Magistrate in Bandra has sent the accused to police custody for five days.
