Saif Ali Khan is the Nawab of Pataudi. He and his family also own the Pataudi Palace where they often take time off from work and go on vacation. Not only this, many films have been shot in that palace, including the recently released Animal. Now Saif’s sister Soha Ali Khan has revealed many things about this palace. She says that her mother keeps all the accounts here.

Sharmila keeps accounts

In fact, in an interview with Cyrus Barocha’s YouTube channel, Soha told that Sharmila Tagore keeps account of every expense of the palace. Not only this, instead of painting, the palace is whitewashed because it is less expensive. Nothing new has been brought there for many years. The architecture of the palace is very beautiful which attracts everyone, not the things.

Because of this reason Soha did not become a princess

Soha also told about the history of Pataudi Palace and said that Saif became a prince because he was born in 1970 and when he was born, the royal titles were abolished so he is not a princess. Soha said, ‘I was born when the royal titles were abolished in 1970. My brother was born in 1970 so he is a prince. With the title comes a big responsibility and so does the bill. My grandmother was the Begum of Bhopal and my grandfather was the Nawab of Pataudi.’

Why was Pataudi Palace built?

Soha told that her grandfather was a competitive sportsman and her grandmother’s father was a little jealous of him. This is why her grandfather built the Pataudi Palace to impress him. But then he fell short of money for marble.

Soha further said, ‘He loved her for many years, but he was not allowed to marry her. He wanted to impress his father-in-law, so if you go to Pataudi House, you will see many carpets there. Then he did not have money for marble, so there is cement under that carpet.’

Soha then told that she pays for the maintenance of the generator room because it belongs to her. Talking about this, Soha said, ‘When this palace was leased to Neemrana Hotel and when my parents had to stay there, the generator room was converted into 2 bedrooms, hall and kitchen.’
