The Supreme Court has dismissed the petition filed against the clean chit given by the SIT to 56 people, including the then Chief Minister Narendra Modi, in the 2002 Gujarat riots. The petition was filed by Zakia Jafri, the widow of former MP Ehsan Jafri, who was killed in the Gujarat riots. The Supreme Court dismissed Zakia’s plea, saying there was no merit in it.
Earlier in the Supreme Court, the SIT had argued that no one else pointed fingers at the investigation of 2002 riots, only Zakia Jafri had filed an application alleging a wider conspiracy. The finger has also been raised on the clean chit given to PM Modi.
After the dismissal of Zakira Jafri’s petition, many people are giving their reaction on social media. Bhojpuri star and BJP leader Manoj Tiwari has also expressed happiness. He has also taunted.
Manoj Tiwari tweeted and wrote, ‘Truth can be upset, not defeated… Big victory. People are reacting to this tweet of Manoj Tiwari. Piyush Raj writes that ‘The Supreme Court has not given a single decision against the current government. This court should now be called Sangh Court. One user writes, ‘Truth can even think of going to Rajya Sabha.’ One user wrote that ‘Court, judge, all belong to BJP’. A user writes that sir has to go to Rajya Sabha?

It is worth noting that the whole matter is related to the riots in Gulbarga Society of Ahmedabad on 28 February 2002. 68 people, including Congress MP Ehsan Jafri, were killed in the arson at the apartment here. The SIT was constituted by the Supreme Court in 2008 and later the SIT filed its investigation report. In the report, 56 people including Narendra Modi were given clean chit.
Zakia Jafri had filed a petition in the Supreme Court on 9 December 2021 last year. The same report was challenged in the petition and demanded a probe into the larger conspiracy in the riots, which has now been rejected by the court.
