Tajdar Amrohi’s reaction on Sharmin’s statement.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar’ has become one of the most watched Indian series on Netflix. The series received mixed reactions from the audience and critics. While the rest of the cast of the series is getting a lot of praise, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s niece and actress Sharmin Segal, who plays Alamzeb in Heeramandi, is being trolled heavily for her acting skills. Some of her videos are being continuously shared on social media and questions are being raised on her acting. People say that Sanjay Leela Bhansali took her in this series because she is his niece. Meanwhile, the actress had said in an interview that for her character in Heeramandi, she took inspiration from Meena Kumari in ‘Pakeezah’.
What did Tajdar Amrohi say?
Now late actress Meena Kumari’s step son Tajdar Amrohi has also reacted to this statement of Sharmin Sehgal. Targeting Sharmin, Tajdar said that Heeramandi and Pakeezah cannot be compared. In an interview given to Zoom TV, Tajdar Amrohi reacted to Sharmin’s statement and said that there is a huge difference between Pakeezah and Heeramandi and they should not be compared. No one can make Pakeezah again and neither Kamal Amrohi nor Meena Kumari can be born again.
Sanjay tries to imitate my father: Tajdar
Tajdar Amrohi said- ‘I don’t want to say much on this, because Sanjay Leela Bhansali is a fan of my father. He tries to take every shot in the same way as my father used to take. I remember, he once came to Kamalistan Studio. He asked me where my father used to sit, where he used to walk? When I showed him that place, he very respectfully placed his hand on the place where my father used to sit. This was about 15 years ago. After this I never met him. I definitely want to say that each of us has our own choice. This is my opinion, maybe some people liked Heeramandi more than Pakeezah. I don’t know Sharmin, so I cannot relate to her statement.’
There is a huge difference between Pakeeza and Hiramandi
Tajdar further said- ‘Pakeezah was a film based on a courtesan from Lucknow and Heeramandi is based on the life of courtesans in the red light area of Lahore. Due to this, many viewers compared the two, but there is a huge difference between Pakeezah and Heeramandi.’ Let us tell you, Sharmin Sehgal is constantly being trolled for her ‘expressionless acting’ in Heeramandi, on which the actress also talked in an interview and then she also told that she had tried to bring Meena Kumari’s nothingness in Pakeezah for her character in Heeramandi.
