Pankaj Kapoor is one of such artists. They do not need any introduction, yet someone knows him as ‘Karamchand’, someone as a Musaddilal of ‘Office’ and someone remembers him as Abbaji of Vishal Bhardwaj’s ‘Maqbool’.
Birth and beginning of career
Born on 29 May 1954, Pankaj Kapoor studied with the National School of Drama (NSD). His contribution to the theater has been incomparable-they have made a mark as a magnificent actor, director and writer. Even today, he is deeply connected to the theater. His film career began in 1982 with the film ‘Arohan’. He then played many memorable characters in both television and cinema. He acted in every role that the character became immortal – whether it was a serious Panditji, a funny Mussaddilal or a creepy Abbaji. Pankaj Kapoor has a Filmfare Award and three National Film Awards. His acting has easyness, depth and a special kind of simplicity that makes him different from the rest of the actors.

First marriage with Neelima Azim
Pankaj Kapoor’s story was no less interesting even in personal life. When he was 19 years old, he enrolled in NSD, where he met Neelima Azim. Neelima was a student of Kathak at that time. Friendship gradually turned into love and then both got married in 1979. Two years later, his son Shahid Kapoor was born. However, after a few years, cracks started in their relationship and both got divorced in 1984. Shahid was only three years old when both were divorced. Due to the separation of parents, not only the family was scattered but Shahid’s life was not easy.

Second marriage to Supriya Pathak
Four years after the first marriage broke, actress Supriya Pathak came in Pankaj Kapoor’s life. The two met during the shooting of a film in 1986. Working together increased the closer and then both started dating each other. Supriya was ready for marriage, but Pankaj wanted to take some time. Finally, both of them got married in 1989, although Supriya’s mother was not ready for this relationship, but the family also agreed over time. This marriage has a daughter Sana Kapoor and a son Ruhan Kapoor. Pankaj and Supriya are still known as a strong, intelligent and art-sensitive couple.
