New Delhi. A serious allegation has been leveled against actor Sunny Deol, who created a stir in the industry again with the blockbuster ‘Gadar 2’ last year. Sunny Deol has been accused of fraud of not a few lakhs but Rs 2.55 crores. Real estate developer turned producer Saurav Gupta, owner of Sundown Entertainment Private Limited, has made shocking allegations of fraud, extortion and forgery against the actor.
Saurav Gupta claimed that he met Sunny Deol in May 2016 with the first draft of his film. The actor agreed to do the film for Rs 4 crore. He claimed that we paid him Rs 1 crore in advance. He asked for more money, which was also given, but the actor did not start shooting and instead went to film for ‘Poster Boys’.
When Sunny said change the director and work on the script again
He further said that in the year 2022, there was a lot of back and forth regarding the film. He said that Sunny asked him to change the director of the film and rework the script. The producer claimed that in 2023, he himself suggested a subject to us. The name of the film was ‘Ram Janmabhoomi’. We were told that the script is ready, a director is present and we just have to execute it. The total budget of the film was estimated to be around Rs 40 crore, which would be split 50-50 percent between us and another partner.
Filmistan studio was booked
The producer further alleged, ‘We booked Filmistan studio, paid the director and others. In the next meeting, Sunny Deol assured us that the film will be made. But, then he said my fees have increased. So we came to an agreement that Sunny Deol will get Rs 2 crore extra from the profits.’
He asked for 50 lakhs for his son Karan’s marriage
The producer claimed that Sunny requested us to pay another Rs 50 lakh saying that his son’s wedding is coming up. He told us that satellite and digital sales will give him huge returns for the project. So we paid him Rs 50 lakh.
When the producer was stunned to see the hard copy of the agreement
Later, Saurav was surprised to find a hard copy of the agreement, which stated that Sunny had increased his fees to Rs 8 crore and would also take Rs 2 crore from the profits. Apart from this, it was said that Rs 1 crore more would have to be paid. He told that I tried to reach Sunny Deol personally and also contacted his team, but they never responded. He said that in all these years we have spent Rs 25 crore directly and indirectly for this project, which also includes Rs 2.55 crore given to Sunny Deol.
Police had issued notice on 30 April
Now Saurav Gupta has filed a police complaint against the actor. He told reporters in a press conference that the police had issued a notice to Sunny Deol on April 30. After which a letter was sent from his office, stating that he was out of town on the day he had to appear.
