New Delhi. Comedian time Raina has been reprimanded by the Supreme Court for making fun of the disabled during the show aired on her YouTube channel. The apex court has directed Raina and other comedians Vipul Goyal, Balraj Parmeet Singh Ghai, Sonali Thakkar and Nishant Jagdish Tanwar to apologize unconditionally. The court said that these comedians have hurt their feelings by mocking people suffering from disabled and rare diseases in their show. A bench of Justices Suryakant and Justice Joymala Bagchi asked them to apologize unconditionally to the disabled on their YouTube channel and podcast.

While hearing a petition filed by Cure SMA, the Supreme Court Bench said that the content of the influencers earning using social media platforms cannot be considered in the free speech category, it would be considered commercial speech. Along with this, the court also said that others cannot be mocked for earning. The Supreme Court bench has asked all these comedians to file an affidavit. In this oath path, he has been asked to tell what they have done for people associated with rare diseases and disability.
At the same time, the court has also asked him how much penalty should be imposed on them for insulting the disabled. Raina was present in the court during the hearing. However, the court has asked these people to follow the conditions, giving exemption from personal appearance. The Supreme Court has directed the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting to prepare clear guidelines regarding the language used on social media. The petition was also linked to controversy related to the Indian Got Latant show in which Ranveer Allahabadia made a very lewd remarks about the parents’ relationship.
