The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has called at least eight people, including actor Dino Moriya and his brother and some BMC officials, for questioning in the case of money refinement related to the “scam” related to the removal of silt from the sweet river. Official sources gave this information on Saturday.
These notices have been issued by the Federal Investigation Agency on Friday after searching more than 15 complexes associated with these people in Mumbai, Maharashtra and Kochi in Kerala. A source said, “Around eight to nine people, including actor Dino Moriya, his brother Sentino and some officials of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), have been asked to appear before the agency in the ED office in Mumbai on different dates next week.”
According to the source, all the statements of all will be recorded under the Money Prevention Act (PMLA). In addition to the house of Dino Moriya in Bandra (West) area, the ED searched the premises associated with her brother and BMC officials and contractors on Friday.
The ED case has surfaced from an FIR of the Economic Offenses Wing (EOW) of the Mumbai Police, which was allegedly registered in the contracts of Rs 65.54 crore in the contracts given from 2017 to 2023 to extract silt from the sweet river. The EOW has registered a case against 13 people including municipal officials and contractors on charges of involvement in the scam. The sweet river flows through Mumbai and joins the Arabian Sea.
