Returning here, Madhavan started working in short films and AIDS. Madhavan was offered characters on TV and became an actor. After working in some TV serials in the 90s, Madhavan got a chance to do the film ‘Alai Payuthey’ with South’s superhit director Mani Ratnam in 2000. It was from here that the two became friends and both made many great films. Madhavan told that ‘I made a lot of preparations for my characters. The reason behind this was that I was born in Bihar and roamed the whole country for studies. I also got a chance to study Canada. This was my preparation and I tried to leave a mark in all kinds of characters. Because I never dreamed of becoming an actor. But when I was offered a young film, I prepared it by looking at the Discovery Channel. When Mani Ratnam sir explained to me that the character is like an animal. Then I saw that when the lion hunts, his face does not look angry. For that, he is preparing lunch only as usual. This helped play my character.
Dutual life burnt in the characters
R Madhavan told that in the 2010s, when the entire Bollywood was romancing abroad, I chose some different characters. As I had Anand L. Rai offered the character of Tanu Weds Manu, I was very happy. I knew that in these characters I could prove myself good. Because I always wanted to do similar characters that were long lasting. This is what people liked my characters. I did many types of characters in my career and tried to play every kind of character differently. In which I was successful in some. R Madhavan has worked in more than 92 films and series in his career so far. Out of these dozens of films have been hit at the box office.
R Madhavan was the first Pan India Star?
R Madhavan told that ‘I did the first film with Mani Ratnam sir. I was quite nervous. But later I thought that the names of many veterans including AR Rahman, Mani Ratnam are associated in this film. If something wrong happens, then I will be the last person to put responsibility for it. This thing gave me confidence and made a film. After this the film was a hit and everything was good. R Madhavan when the host asked that you gave a hit in South and the film also became a hit by playing many great characters in Bollywood. So in this sense you have been a Pan India Star before Prabhas and Allu Arjun.
