Missing ladies
A few days ago, people on social media claimed that Kiran Rao’s film ‘Lapat Ladies’ was copied from the Arabic short film ‘Burka City’. After this, he started comparing some scenes which looked very similar to a large extent. Now Biplab Goswami, author of ‘Missing Ladies’, has reacted on allegations of his film’s copy from ‘Burka City’. Along with a statement, he has also shared documents of his script registration. Also, many revelations have been made about this film.
Every scene of missing ladies is original
In his statement, Goswami wrote, ‘The story of the missing Ladies was worked for many years. I first registered the film on 3 July 2014 with the Screenreiter Association, in which the entire story was registered as ‘Two Brides’. There is also a scene in this registration copy, which is clearly shown that the groom brings home the wrong bride and causes this mistake due to the veil, after which she realizes her mistake. After this, he starts covering his wife. The story moves forward from here. I myself have written every scene very well.
Missing ladies are made on social issue
Biplab Goswami further stated that he had registered a feature-length script ‘Two Brides’ with SWA on June 30, 2018. The same year the script of the film received the award in the Cineston India’s Storytellers competition. Goswami further wrote in his statement, ‘The veil system causes the wrong identity of the bride, the way to present the story is a bit old because centuries ago, writers like William Shakespeare, Alexandre Dumas and Rabindranath Tagore presented some such special story in front of us. The missing ladies are the film that shows society a mirror of truth to society. Story, dialogues, characters and scenes we have all written. Our story, characters and dialogues are 100% original. Any allegation of literary theft is completely false. It is a great thing for a writer that his hard work is being humiliated in this way, while I have made the whole film with my team day and night. Thank you.’
