New Delhi. Two veteran stars of Tamil film industry, superstar Rajinikanth and Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan, will be seen together on the big screen once again after 33 years through ‘Vettaiyan’. Director T.J. Gyanvel’s Tamil action-drama stars Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, Dushara Vijayan, Manju Warrier, Ritika Singh, and Abhirami in lead roles.
After a great opening in the theatre, this film is now going to be released on OTT. Regarding ‘Vettaiyaan’, the makers have announced its digital release. From November 8, Amazon Prime members in more than 240 countries across the world including India will be able to watch this film in Tamil language. It will also be made available with dubbing in Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi languages.
Crossed Rs 250 crore mark in three weeks, but did not live up to expectations at the box office
According to trade reports, ‘Vettaiyan’ has earned over Rs 250 crore by its third week. However, the film did not perform as expected at the box office. Despite this, the film has proved profitable for the makers due to the huge amount received in pre-release price.
What is the story of the film?
In the film ‘Vettaiyan’, Rajinikanth plays the character of SP Athiyan, an outspoken police officer known for his strict attitude towards law and justice. When an innocent man is killed during a mission, Athean has to face the consequences of his callous work ethic. He then becomes entangled in a complex web of crime and internal conflict, where his definition of justice and atonement is seriously challenged.
