Why did you stay away from acting for 7 years?
Jaya Bhattacharya is a famous face of the TV industry. She has played many negative roles. She has appeared in many big serials so far. Despite gaining so much fame, she remained unemployed for 7 years. The actress is seen in the recently launched show ‘Chhathi Maiya Ki Bitiya’. She is playing the role of Urmila, the stepmother of Karthik (actor Ashish Dixit).
Negative roles are not leaving me
In her career, Jaya has worked in films like ‘Devdas’, Lajja, Sirf Tum, Kyunki Main Jhoot Nahin Bolta’ and ‘Mimi’ and TV shows like ‘Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi’ and ‘Thapki Pyar Ki’. In a recent interview, the actress said, ‘It seems as if the word ‘negative’ has been written on my forehead. I have been offered mostly negative roles in my career so far. The first negative character that I played and became famous was that of Payal in ‘Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi’. People thought that I could not do any other role.’
Let us tell you that due to this reason Jaya did not work for seven years. She says that she herself started doubting her talent. She started wondering whether she is an actor or not. The actress says that she does not want to play only negative roles. She wants to play different types of characters. Jaya worked with Govinda in the film ‘Kyunki Main Jhoot Nahi Bolta’.
