Horror film
There was a time in Bollywood when horror films used to take on an exciting journey in themselves. Horror comedy was not penetrated in those films like today. Rather, there were real psychological thriller who scared people and created a desire to see them more. In the 80s, many such magnificent films were made, whose scale is still difficult to get to many people. Shyam and Tulsi Ramsay, known as Ramsay Brothers, were considered the master of horror film production. 37 years ago, in May 1988, Ramsay Brothers brought a supernatural horror film, which had made the audience sleep for several days. The film was Veerana, with Jasmine Dhna, Hemant Birje, Vijayendra Ghatge, Vijay Arora, Satish Shah and Gulshan Grover in the lead roles.
The story is such that the audience’s throat had dried up
The film revolves around a woman (starring Jasmine), who suffers from the soul of a dead witch and turns into a bloody creature that seals and kills men. Veerana was made in a low budget, which was slightly more than Rs 60 lakh, but earned Rs 2.5 crore at the box office with Jasmine Dhna, which is often referred to as ‘one of the most reputable demons’ till date. In the last few years, Veerana created an important creed by achieving immense success on home video and TV broadcasting. Many people are unaware that Veerana was initially rejected by the Central Film Certification Board (CBFC) due to its sexual and scary images. However, the film was re -edited and released in theaters in May 1988.
The heroine of the film is also remembered
It became one of the most memorable films of Jasmine Dhna. Jasmine, who has disappeared from the film world after the 990 film Hatim Tai, still lives in Mumbai. A few years ago, Shyam Ramsay, who directed Jasmine in Veerana a few years ago, said that he is planning to cast Jasmine in the sequel to this hit film. One of the best horror films in India was released in 1988, which made the audience sleep, initially CBFC rejected it, yet it was a superhit, the film made for just Rs 60 lakhs earned Rs 1.5 crore.
