Kareena was not the first choice for Jab We Met

Replaced in Jab We Met
Bhumika Chawla, who played the character of ‘Nirjara’ in ‘Tere Naam’, revealed that she was replaced in films like ‘Jab We Met’ and ‘Munna Bhai MBBS’. Bhumika Chawla made this revelation during a conversation with RJ Siddharth Kannan. The actress said that she felt disappointed only once and that was when Kareena Kapoor replaced her in Imtiaz Ali’s ‘Jab We Met’. Bhumika also revealed during this time that she was earlier finalized for Sanjay Dutt starrer ‘Munna Bhai MBBS’, but Gracy Singh took her place.
I felt bad only once – Bhumika
Talking about being replaced in Jab We Met, Bhumika said, ‘I felt bad only once and that was when I signed Jab We Met, but then could not work in the film. Then Bobby Deol was paired with me in the film. The film was named ‘Train’. Then Bobby was replaced by Shahid Kapoor and I was with him. Then Shahid and Ayesha and then Shahid and Kareena Kapoor were cast. That’s how things changed, but never mind. I felt bad only once and never after that because I moved on. I don’t think much about it.
Couldn’t even work in Munnabhai
Bhumika further said- ‘I had signed for Munna Bhai MBBS. But, this did not happen and then I could not work with Mani Ratnam sir in Kannathil Muthamittal. He had also shared details of the conversation he had with Rajkumar Hirani, in which Hirani had assured him that his replacement was not due to any mistake of his. Bhumika is known for her work in multiple film industries including Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam cinema apart from Hindi. Bhumika became an overnight star with her performance in ‘Tere Naam’. In the year 2008, she worked in the Punjabi film ‘Yaariyan’, in which she acted with Gurdas Maan. After this she appeared in Malayalam cinema. Worked with superstar Mohanlal in the film Bhramaram. He made a comeback in Bollywood with the 2023 film ‘Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan’.
