Shafiq Syed ran away from home with his friends and came to Mumbai. In his early years, Shafiq lived on the footpath near Churchgate railway station. Later it was discovered that Shafiq Syed was running autos in Bangalore to run his daily expenses. Even today, Shafiq runs autorickshaw. In between, he does small tasks with the production unit of Kannada TV show. In an old interview to Telegraph, Shafiq Syed had given his response to running the auto. He had said, ‘I had to take care of the family. In 1987, I had no such responsibility. Shafiq Syed is married and lives in a town 30 km from Bangalore with his wife, mother and three sons and a daughter. He is still looking for success.
