New Delhi: Actor Vijay Sethupathi, famous as ‘Makkal Selvan’ of Tamil cinema, won the hearts of people by taking a selfie with an elderly woman in a wheelchair at a polling booth in Chennai during the first phase of voting in the Lok Sabha elections. In a video viral on the internet, the bespectacled star is shown shaking hands with an elderly woman sitting in a wheelchair, touching her feet, seeking blessings and taking a selfie with her.
Vijay’s affectionate gesture surprised the old woman. The ‘Tughlaq Darbar’ actor was wearing a dark blue shirt. Fans wrote on social media, ‘This is why he is Makkal Selvan.’ He had come to vote with his wife. After voting, Vijay posed in front of the people gathered outside and proudly showed his inked index finger to convey that he had cast his vote.
Vijay has become popular among the Hindi speaking audience with the web series ‘Farzi’ and Shahrukh Khan starrer ‘Jawaan’, although Hrithik Roshan’s film ‘Vikram Vedha’ could not do well at the box office. The superstar was last seen in ‘Merry Christmas’. He will be next seen in ‘Viduthalai Part 2’. It is noteworthy that Vijay Sethupathi is mainly a star of Tamil cinema. For his brilliant work in films, he has won many awards including the National Award, two South Filmfare Awards and two Tamil Nadu State Film Awards. He has worked in Hindi, Malayalam, Telugu and Kannada cinema films.
