This film of veteran South Indian film director EEV Satyanarayana was released in theatres on 21 May 1999. Made with a budget of Rs 7 crore, this film did not do any wonders in theatres. This film flopped at the box office as soon as it was released. The film earned only Rs 11 crore in India and the worldwide earnings were close to Rs 12 crore. But when this film flopped at the box office, it was released on TV. The same year this film was released, a TV channel named SetMax was launched. This TV channel bought the rights of this film for 100 years. After this, the channel started running this film on SetMax. People loved the film a lot on TV and brought it from a flop to a list of hit films.
13 actors had rejected the film
Let us tell you that Amitabh Bachchan played a double role in the film Suryavansham, which was liked by the people. But Amitabh Bachchan was not the first choice of the director. Director EEV Satyanarayana had revealed this in his interview. In which he told that this film was first offered to other Bollywood actors. The film was first taken to Govinda. But due to dates, Govinda refused this film. After this, the offer of this film was sent to a total of 13 actors including Mithun Chakraborty, Ajay Devgan, Sunil Shetty, Saif Ali Khan. But due to the double role, the actors rejected this film. Then Amitabh Bachchan took charge of it and made history.
