Varun Dhawan and Citadel team recently gave an interview to Indian Express. In this conversation, Varun Dhawan also mentioned the 90s era with his father. In which Varun Dhawan told that the era of ’90 is very special for me. I was growing up at this time and was studying in school. During my school days, I used to get a chance to see Govinda and all the big stars including Salman Khan live. This was a different era. But my father is a very sensitive person. Varun Dhawan also talked about the release time of his father’s film ‘Bade Miyan Aur Chhote Miyan’. In which Varun says, ’90s have been quite crazy. Karan Johar’s film Kuch Kuch Hota Hai was being released along with my father’s film Bade Miyan Chhote Miyan. I expressed my desire to watch Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. My father became very angry on this matter. Not only this, he told me that I will leave you here on the road and go away. So I said, Dad, this is London.

2 big films were released on the same day

Let us tell you that in the year 1998, there was a box office clash between two big films. Both these films were released in theaters on 16 October. Amitabh Bachchan and Govinda were in lead roles in Bade Miyan Chhote Miyan. Shahrukh Khan, Kajol, Rani Mukherjee and Farida Jalal were seen in lead roles in Karan Johar’s film Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. However, there was a big difference in the earnings of both. Karan Johar’s film Kuch Kuch Hota Hai was the highest grossing film of the year and collected Rs 106 crore. The film was made with a budget of just Rs 10 crore. The film Bade Miyan Chhote Miyan, made with a budget of Rs 12 crore, proved to be the 5th biggest hit of the year with an earning of Rs 35 crore.
