Anurag Kashyap’s film Gangs of Wasseypur was released in 2012. This film was released in two parts. In an exclusive interview with news agency ANI, Nawazuddin Siddiqui was asked if he had any idea about what he was making while making the film. Nawaz said, “Absolutely not. You can never tell this while working on a film. In fact, I did not know even after the film was over.”
Nawaz said, “When I saw the first cut of the film, I thought what have they made. But when I saw the final film at the Cannes Film Festival, when changes had been made in it, then I understood why Anurag is Anurag.”
Nawaz called Anurag a genius
Nawaz further called Anurag Kashyap a genius. He said, “Anurag Kashyap changed the face of Indian cinema, and everyone noticed it. He may not get appreciation in his own country, but I am sorry, the world knows what he has done.”
Along with Nawazuddin, actors like Rajkumar Rao, Jaideep Ahlawat, Richa Chadha, Huma Qureshi, Tigmanshu Dhulia and Manoj Bajpayee were seen in this film. Many dialogues of the film are now floating on social media as memes.
