New Delhi. The OTT release of Tamil action-adventure film “Thangalan” has been announced. Pa. Directed by Ranjeet, the film is produced by Studio Green, Neelam Productions, and Jio Studios. The film stars Vikram in the lead role and stars Malavika Mohanan, Parvathy Thiruvothu, Daniel Caltajirone, Pasupathi, Harikrishnan Ambudurai and Sampath Ram.
Thangalan’s story
The story is set during the British Raj, where a fearless tribal leader helps a British general in his search for gold in his village. In the process, they encounter a powerful witch, Aarti, with whom they have to fight.
Background and making of the film
In December 2021, it was announced as “Chiyaan 61” in honor of Vikram’s 61st lead role. The official title “Thangalan” was revealed in October 2022. Box office and OTT release date
The film was released in theaters on August 15, 2024, coinciding with Independence Day, and was also shown in 3D format. Thangaalan has grossed Rs 100 crore globally. The digital streaming rights have been acquired by Netflix and the film will be available in multiple languages on Netflix on the occasion of Diwali on October 31.
Malavika Mohanan plays the role of Aarthi opposite Vikram in the film, while Parvathy plays the role of Thiruvothu Gangamma. Apart from this, Pasupathi, Daniel Caltagirone (Clement), Harikrishnan Ambudurai, Vettai Muthukumar, Krishna Hassan, Arjun Anbudan and Sampath Ram have also played important roles, which further strengthen the story of the film.
