Singer-composer Bappi Lahiri passed away at the age of 69. Disco King Bappi’s illustrious career spanned over five decades. Bappi was hospitalized for almost a month. He was discharged from the hospital on Monday. But suddenly his health deteriorated and he was taken to the hospital. He died shortly after. Bappi Lahiri is known as the ‘Disco King’. Along with this, the star singer was also very famous for his unusual dressing sense. Bappi Lahiri always used to wear heavy gold ornaments which made him different from everyone else.
Bappi Lahiri was never seen in public without gold, and he even faced trolls and mockery for this style at times. Bappi Lahiri talked about his style many times. He said that if he is ever seen laden with sleep, people are disappointed. He told one such anecdote in his interview to Etams when he had to show his gold to prove his identity.
During his interview, Bappi Lahiri told an interesting anecdote. He told that gold is lucky for me. My identity is also with gold in the whole world, my image remains that of ‘Gold Man’. Once upon a time went to London. There a person first asked him if he was Bappi Lahiri, when he said that he was Bappi Lahiri, that person refused to believe because he did not see any gold on him.
Bappi said, “I remember once a man refused to believe that I was Bappi Lahiri because I was wearing a coat to protect myself from the cold and he could not see my gold chain. He First asked me if I was Bappi Lahiri but when I answered yes he didn’t believe me. It happened in London and I had to reveal my identity to him by revealing my coat to him that I was actually wearing gold Is.”
By the way, let us tell you, apart from the hobby, the reason for wearing gold for Bappi Lahiri was also recognition. He believed that gold suits him. In an interview, he had told that his mother had made him wear a gold chain and only after that how he started getting opportunities in the industry. Talking about his love for gold, Bappi Lahiri had said, “Sona is my lucky charm. My mother gave me a gold chain with a Hare Ram Hare Krishna locket. I got ‘Zakhmi’ – my first blockbuster. When my mother put the chain on for me, she told me that it would be lucky for me. With the box-office successes, the gold chain kept increasing. I have always got gold from my family.”

He further added, “After my mother, it was my wife Chitrani, who presented me another gold chain with a big Ganpati locket on my birthday in 1977. This was followed by ‘Aap ki khatir’ and ‘Bombai se aaya’ Mera Dost’ was having a super successful run at the box-office. My gold chains got bigger as I progressed. But yes, the gold Ganpati around my neck keeps me safe.”
