The married life of Hema Malini and Dharmendra remains in the news even today. Actually, Dharmendra married Hema Malini without divorcing his first wife Prakash Kaur. He even changed his religion to make the dream girl of the Hindi film industry his own, but after some time after the birth of his daughters, Dharmendra left Hema and went back to his first wife Prakash Kaur.
“I am happy with myself”
When Hema was asked whether she feels bad that Dharmendra no longer lives with her but with his first wife? Then Hema had said in an interview given to Lehran, “I do not feel bad about this nor am I sad because of this. I am happy with myself. I have two children, and I have raised them very well. Of course, he (Dharmendra) was always with us. Everywhere.”
Why has Hema not met Prakash Kaur till date?
Hema had also talked about Dharmendra’s first wife in his biography ‘Hema Malini: Beyond the Dream Girl’ written by journalist-filmmaker Ram Kamal Mukherjee. Hema had told that till date she has not met Dharmendra’s first wife Prakash Kaur. Explaining the reason for this, Hema had said, “I did not want to trouble anyone. I am happy with whatever Dharamji did for me and my daughters. He played the role of father very well. I think I’m happy with that. Today I am a working woman and I have been able to maintain my dignity because I have dedicated my life to art and culture.”
“I respect him a lot”
Hema had also said that she respects Dharamji’s first wife a lot. She had said, “Although[I]never talked about Prakash, I respect him a lot. Even my daughters respect Dharamji’s family. The world wants to know details about my life, but they should mind their own business.”
