Meenu Mumtaz’s real name was Malikunnisa Ali. Meenu used to be beautiful as well as very bold and was also expert in dance. He also used to run a show named Mumtaz Ali Knight in his name. Meenu often used to make rounds of film studios in search of work. Meanwhile, filmmaker Nanubhai lawyer looked at him and gave him work in his film ‘Sakhi Hakim’ (1955). Mother was strongly against working in Meenu’s films, so she had to work according to her mother’s instruction.

Meenu Mumtaz worked in these films

In addition to ‘Howrah Bridge’, Meenu acted in films like ‘Sahib Biwi Aur Ghulam’ (1962), ‘Paper Ke Phool’ (1959), ‘Chaudhvi Ka Chand’ (1960) and played an important role. Apart from these films, Meenu also worked in films like Taj Mahal, Gharana and Veil. Meanwhile, Meenu’s marriage was finalized. For the wedding, Meenu had to quit working in films, but in those days he had films like ‘Ara’ and ‘Palki’. Meenu talked about quitting work by completing these films. In 1963, Meenu Mumtaz, at the behest of his family, the film director S.K. Ali got married to Akbar and as promised, finished shooting Ara and Palki and said goodbye to films.

Shooting of pregnancy

While Meenu Mumtaz was shooting for Ara and Palki, they were pregnant in the days, due to which the palanquin took four years to make and the film could be released in 1967. Meenu was pregnant, in such a situation, the director deliberately put such scenes in the film, in which Meenu could also be shown pregnant onscreen. Meenu Mumtaz and Ali Akbar had four children, one son Ejaz and three daughters Shahnaz, Gulnaz and Mahnaj.

Country left after marriage

After marriage, Meenu left the country and settled abroad. One day in 2003, suddenly there was darkness in front of Meenu’s eyes. On being taken to the hospital, it was found that he had a brain tumor. Due to the brain tumor, his memory also went away, he stopped recognizing everyone. However, his memory returned after the operation. On 23 October 2021, Meenu Mumtaz said goodbye to this world at the age of 79. She was living in Toronto, Canada when she died.
