New Delhi: The OTT release date of the American film ‘The Six Triple Eight’ based on World War II has been decided. The film will be released on Netflix on December 20, 2024. The story is based on the lives of 855 women who decided to join the Army to clear the three-year backlog.
What is the story of the film?
‘The Six Triple Eight’ takes its name from the 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion, which was a part of the US Army during World War II. Black women served in this battalion. The film shows how these women overcome every obstacle to fulfill their duty of delivering mail to American soldiers.
The official description released about the film’s story reads, “An Army Captain (Cerry Washington) and her battalion of historic female soldiers defy all odds to deliver hope to the front lines during World War II.

In the film, Kerry Washington is playing the role of Major Charity Adams, who was the commanding officer of this battalion.
