Who was Sir Nair:
In “Kesari 2”, Akshay Kumar played the role of famous lawyer Sir Chetur Shankaran Nair. Sir Nair was born in the year 1857 into an aristocratic family of Mankara village in Kerala. Nair did his education in an English school in his hometown. After schooling, he enrolled in the Presidency College, Madras. After obtaining a law degree, Nair started his practice in the 1880 Madras High Court. In the year 1897, Nair was elected President at the Amravati session of the Indian National Congress, but later troubled by caste discrimination, Nair gave up this presidency.

After this, Nair was made a Permanent Judge of the Madras High Court in the year 1908. In 1912, the British government honored Nair with the title of Nighthood and now Nair Sir became Nair. Not only this, C. Shankaran Nair was the only Indian representative in the Education Minister and Viceroy’s Executive Council, which was a great honor for any Indian at that time. Despite being at the highest peak of his career, Sir Nair left all this for the country and resigned and went out to start the war against General Dyer.
When General Dyer fired on people who were agitating peacefully in Jalliawala Bagh in Amritsar, Punjab, more than a thousand people were killed in this cruel massacre. When this news reached Nair, he immediately resigned from his post. The resignation of CS Nair shocked the British, which removed the martial law in Punjab.
Five weeks hearing:
Nair filed a case against Dyer. The hearing of the case for five weeks was held in the High Court of London. The judge hearing the case was himself against Indianness. The case lasted for five weeks and was the longest in the history of the court. Since no decision was taken unanimously in the case, Nair was given two options: apologize to O’Dire or give 500 pounds, and he chose the second option. Akshay Kumar’s film “Kesari 2” is also based on this case.
Although the matter was not in favor of CS Nair, his efforts to show the murder were seen. From the end of press sensorship and martial law to the investigation of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre, it proved that it is not fought every time to win the war, but also to fight in the war and Sir Nair also did the same as a result of which the Jalliawala Bagh murder case came on record.
