Trilok Kapoor, Raj Kapoor and Ranbir Kapoor.
If we talk about the history of Indian cinema, it will be incomplete without the Kapoor family. The Kapoor family is the only family in Hindi cinema whose four generations have been associated with films. It has also been called the first film family of Indian cinema. This family has given many superstars, many powerful actors, many directors, character artists and many actresses. Many families have come and gone in Bollywood but no one has been seen establishing itself generation after generation like the Kapoor family. This family also became the most influential family of Bollywood. This family has made a special contribution to Indian pop culture for the last eight decades. Today we will tell you about a member of this family who achieved fame and success at a young age, but despite this, got lost in oblivion. This person is Trilok Kapoor, who was the first Kapoor hero, who became the top star of the industry and then got lost in the darkness of obscurity.
Who was the first hero of the Kapoor family
Prithviraj Kapoor was the first from his family to enter films in the 1920s. His younger brother Trilok entered the film world in 1933. He followed in his brother’s footsteps. The 21-year-old Trilok made his debut with the lead role in ‘Char Darvesh’. He also starred opposite his brother Prithviraj in ‘Sita’ the same year. Prithviraj mostly played villains and supporting roles, but Trilok became the hero in films. By the end of the 1930s he had established himself as one of the top stars of Hindi cinema.

Trilok had given more hit films than Ranbir
He was one of the biggest names in Hindi cinema in the 1930s and 40s and became one of the highest paid stars along with KL Saigal, Ashok Kumar, Karan Dewan and Prithviraj. In 1947, he established himself as one of the best heroes in the industry with the hit film Mirza Sahibaan opposite Noor Jehan. The most successful phase of Trilok’s career came in the 50s when he did many hits in the spiritual and mythological genre. He gave 30 hits which is almost double the career graph of Raj Kapoor and Ranbir Kapoor, where Raj Kapoor gave 17 hits so far while Ranbir has given only 11 hits so far.
Trilok started appearing more in mythological films
Gradually, Trilok started appearing in small budget mythological films. In this way, he got cut off from the mainstream, which is why he could never become a mainstream hero. Even after giving hit films, the makers could not trust him for commercial films like his contemporaries like Ashok Kumar. After the 1960s, Trilok Kapoor started playing character roles and small roles. He played small roles in hit films like ‘Jai Santoshi Maa’, ‘Main Tulsi Tere Aangan Ki’, ‘Dostana’ and ‘Ganga Jamuna Saraswati’. He died in 1988 at the age of 76.
