Women are not considered capable
Nikhil Advani recently became a part of ‘Prime Video’s ‘O Womaniya’. During the conversation with the panel, Nikhil Advani revealed why male hairstylists are not hired for female stars in the film industry. What Nikhil revealed surprised not only the audience but also the stars sitting on the panel. Nikhil Advani told that there are 170 jobs in the industry, but women are considered capable for only 9 of these.
Nikhil Advani’s shocking revelation
Nikhil Advani revealed that he was reading documents related to the budget of a project. In this he came to know a shocking thing. Talking about this, Nikhil said- ‘There are 169 line items in it, above the line and below the line. Do you know how many jobs women are considered capable of? Think, only 9 jobs are considered suitable for women. Women are not considered suitable for everyone else.
Why are there hair sisters in the industry?
The people sitting on the panel said that now women are also being hired in the makeup, hair and costume departments. On this Nikhil raised his hand and said- ‘I have a great story about hair-makeup. Do you know why there is hair didi and makeup dada? Because if a man touches a woman’s neck, it can arouse sexual feelings. That’s why there are hair didis and makeup dadas in the industry. The union does not allow us to hire male hairstylists.
Richa Chadha was surprised
Richa Chadha was also surprised by this revelation of Nikhil Advani. Nikhil further said that ‘If a woman touches your hair, you will not get excited. This is the logic of the union. When I came to know, I said- what? When we started working with Mickey Contractors we had to convince them to hire a woman. But, just imagine that if someone from the union had stood there, Hair Didi would have had to stand there immediately.
