High earning films in low budget
In the year 2023, films of many superstars including Shahrukh Khan, Salman Khan and Ranbir Kapoor left their mark at the box office. At the same time, in 2024, many low budget content-rich films were released, from Lapata Ladies to Stree 2, which were very good. The audience loved these films a lot. This year had a very slow start at the box office with Deepika Padukone and Hrithik Roshan’s film ‘Fighter. People had high expectations from the film but they were disappointed. But this year many such low budget films were released which ruled the box office. It is noteworthy that there was no major promotion of these films nor did anyone have such expectations from them. But still these films have made huge profits with a limited budget.
1-Hanuman
The first film in this list is Teja Sajja’s Hanuman, which was originally a Telugu language film. This film was released all over India. This film, released in theaters on January 12, 2024, was such a blast at the box office that the audience just kept watching. Made on a budget of Rs 40 crore, the film had a lifetime collection of around Rs 301-350 crore worldwide. People liked the story of the film very much.
2-Article 370
Another low-budget film this year that dominated the box office was Article 370, in which Yami Gautam played the role of NIA agent Juni Haksar. The film was produced by her husband Aditya Dhar. The budget of the film was only around Rs 20 crore, but the film did a lifetime business of more than Rs 110.57 crore. This film was released on 23 February 2024.

Ajay Devgan’s film ‘Shaitan’ also has a name in the list of big low-budget hit films of this year, which was released in theaters on March 8, 2024 this year. R Madhavan and Jyothika were seen with him in the film. The budget of this film based on black magic was approximately Rs 40 crores. The film earned around Rs 211 crore worldwide.
4-Munjya
With films like Stree 2 and Munjya, producer Dinesh Vijan is taking the world of horror comedy films even bigger. The film starring Sharvari Wagh and Abhay Verma was released in theaters on 7 June 2024. The story of the film is based on a village folk tale. Munjya’s budget was only Rs 30 crore, but the film grossed approximately Rs 132.13 crore.

Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkumar starrer film ‘Stree’ was released in the year 2018 and when the makers announced its second part, the impatience of the fans had increased. This year, on 15 August 2024, when the story of Chanderi village came before the people again, the audience could not stop themselves and the theaters remained packed for weeks to know further about the story. This film remained at the box office for more than 50 days. Even though there was a lot of discussion about Stree 2, the budget was only Rs 60 crores. This low-budget film collected Rs 874.58 crore worldwide in its lifetime.
