On Friday, the actress posted a video on X, in which she says- ‘There are rumours spreading that our film Emergency has been given a censor certificate. This is not true. Actually, our film was approved, but the certification has been stopped because many types of threats were being received. Death threats were being received. Censor board members are getting threats. There is pressure on us not to show Indira Gandhi’s assassination, not to show Bhindranwale, not to show Punjab riots. I don’t know what will be left to show then… This is unbelievable to me and I am very sorry for the condition of this country.’

Shiromani Akali Dal issues legal notice to CBFC

The Kangana Ranaut starrer started a controversy when the trailer of the film was released a few weeks ago. The trailer of Emergency shows Khalistani leader Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale promising to support Indira Gandhi’s party for a separate Sikh state. Angered by this, the Shiromani Akali Dal in Delhi sent a legal notice to the CBFC, asking it to stop the film due to its portrayal of Sikhs.
