11th International Yoga Day in Jammu and Kashmir: from areas adjacent to LoC to cities, yoga enthusiasm tied

Srinagar, 21 June (IANS). On 21 June, the 11th International Yoga Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm in Jammu and Kashmir. Under the theme of ‘Ek Earth, One Health’, people performed yoga exercises from Mendhar and Nowshera to Akhnoor and Rajouri near the Line of Control (LoC).

Border Security Force (BSF), district administration, schools and local communities jointly organized yoga sessions, in which thousands of people participated. The event not only became a symbol of health awareness, but also showed social unity and cultural pride.

The celebration of the 11th International Yoga Day from the border areas to the cities was celebrated with pomp. A yoga session was organized in the morning at the Government Higher Secondary School (student) of Mendhar, adjacent to LoC.

Local people, students and employees of Physical Education Department joined with enthusiasm. The SDRF team also played an active role in the event. The participants practiced yogasanas like Surya Namaskar, Pranayama and Meditation and resolved to adopt a healthy lifestyle.

Emphasizing the importance of yoga in this session held in Mendhar, the participants were told that both body and mind remain healthy with regular yoga. The program concluded with the message of ‘Yoga Karo, Nirog Raho’, in which everyone committed to adopt yoga in daily life.

The 11th International Yoga Day was also organized at the Regional Headquarters of Border Security Force (BSF) in Sunderbani. BSF employees led by Deputy Inspector General practiced Surya Namaskar, Pranayama and Meditation.

Apart from Sundarbani, various BSF units also organized yoga programs in Akhnoor, Gadkhal, Kanachak, Pargwal and Nowshera. BSF jawans worked with the local people at several posts near the international border.

The enthusiasm of Yoga Day was also worth seeing in Rajouri district. Government employees, political leaders, social workers and citizens participated at 30 different places in the district. In Akhnoor too, BSF and local people gave the message of unity through yoga.

A yoga session was held at the Government Boys Middle School (BMS) Saraya in Nowshera near LoC. Rajouri district administration had made extensive arrangements for the smooth operation of Yoga Day. Special efforts were made to spread awareness and add more and more people. These events, which gave the message of health, health and unity across the district, were successful.

At the same time, Jammu and Kashmir cabinet minister Satish Sharma said in his message on Yoga Day, “Yoga is a 5,000 -year -old Indian tradition, which is adopting millions of people in 180 countries today. Especially the youth would like to say that there is no better means than yoga for mental health and stress.

He appreciated the initiative of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said that yoga has become a global movement because of him.
